Zemmour Kilim - Middle Atlas Mountains, Morocco (c 1940–1970)
Dimensions: 5’ x 9’2” (152 x 279 cms)
A striking flatwoven textile from the Zemmour tribe of Morocco’s Middle Atlas Mountains, near Khemisset. This vintage kilim features bold geometric motifs in indigo blue, saffron yellow, and cochineal red, set against a finely patterned ivory and blue ground. Handwoven with natural dyes and handspun wool, the textile displays the rich texture and intricate craftsmanship for which Zemmour weavers are celebrated.
Typical of mid-century Zemmour design, the pattern blends protective and fertility symbols expressed through abstract lozenges and cloud-like forms. The tight weave and lively palette make it both a collectible heritage piece and a stunning decorative accent for contemporary interiors.
