Vintage Moroccan Zemmour Kilim – Circa 1940s–1960s
Dimensions: 6’10“ x 11’4” (208 x 345 cms)
This authentic Zemmour kilim showcases the distinctive diamond lattice design of Morocco’s Middle Atlas region, symbolizing protection and fertility. Woven by Berber women mid-20th century using natural plant and mineral dyes, the rug glows with layers of deep crimson, orange, and ochre — classic to the Zemmour weaving tradition. The hand-knotted pile with flat-woven ends and braided wool fringe used hand-spun wool, naturally dyed with madder root, pomegranate, saffron, cochineal, and indigo. The pattern is framed by a finely
detailed border and retains its original braided fringe. Very good vintage condition with soft, even pile and vibrant color retention consistent with age.
